Calculates possible colors for a gerbil offspring given genecodes for two gerbil parents. Download program here.
Visual Studio, C#
The Gerbil Color Calculator is a program developed by me during 3 weeks. It calculates possible colors for a gerbil offspring given genecodes for two gerbil parents. It is possible to chose the genes of the mother and father manually, but a user can also drag and drop one of the pictures of different colors in the left column to the mother or father picture and the correct gene code will appear. This was added so that a user of the program would not necessarily need to know the exact genecode but at least know the color or look at the pictures (correct pictures for each color not added though). When both parents have been chosen the user press calculate and both percentages for every color that they can have will appear as well as percentage for every genecode they can get in their offsprings (two different genecodes can give the same color). The focus in this project was mostly to learn better C#, since this was one of my first projects using this programming language. The design of the program was not in focus, however some thought was put behind so that it would be quite intuitive to use and a wireframe in Balsamiq was made before the project began.
